We’re working to build a better world for all living things. At the Zoological Society of West Virginia, we are creating and participate in conservation initiatives that work to address the conservation of endangered species in the wild and those breeding in human care. We invest in conservation education, monitor high-risk species, and focus on preserving natural and zoo habitats.
Every Zoo Crew Membership you purchase, class you attend, and program you participate in brings us another step closer to our conservation goals. Together, we can make a difference!
Our unique classes and camps foster creative engagement, provide hands-on experiences and inspire wildlife enthusiasts of all ages to take conservation action. We will be offering classes all year long, so there’s something for everyone!
Developed in accordance with academic and environmental education standards, our classes provide opportunities for children to interact with and observe real-life animal biofacts. Some of our classes even include a live animal component! Take your students on an interactive field trip they’ll never forget or bring the fun to your school and schedule us for a visit!

Our theater will perform educational and interactive performances that make wildlife conservation come alive through drama, music and puppetry! Guests of all ages can engage in our performances during their seasonal visits to the Huntington Zoo & Aquarium. We hope to even bring our live, educational, family-friendly shows to schools, libraries and community events within a 20-mile radius of the Zoo, completely free of charge! We believe that everyone should have access to educational opportunities at our community’s Zoo. Families can apply for financial assistance to pay for Summer Zoo Camps and Classes. Award is based on demonstration of financial need and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis within the application window. Schools will also have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Zoo Learning Experience, which will be funded by one of our Educational Ambassadors.
The Zoological Society of West Virginia aims to offer as many low-cost and/or free Zoo Camps and Classes as possible for families throughout each year. It is our goal to be able to offer financial assistance to as many families as possible as well. We can only do so through our generous partnerships with our local, regional, and corporate sponsorships and those who just want to give back.
