Our Mission is to Inspire Conservation Through Education
The Zoological Society of West Virginia (ZSWV) will passionately work to conserve wildlife and the environment, educate our community through innovative programs, and support the Zoological facilities of West Virginia. As a nonprofit organization, the Society will raise money for local, regional, and international conservation efforts and help our educational facilities remain a top cultural destination in West Virginia and beyond.
Our Region's New Zoo & Aquarium
The Zoological Society of West Virginia is extremely proud to act as the strategic partner with the Huntington Zoo & Aquarium and their efforts to bring an entire Zoological campus and Aquarium to the Huntington area! The ZSWV is actively assisting, both strategically and foundationally, to bring this 29 million-dollar phased project to fruition. Phase I is already underway with site acquisition!
Awesome Events for Everyone
We plan to partner with several local venues and businesses to create and host special events throughout the year for our members, zoo visitors, and our community. Our events will range from free, family-friendly experiences, to a black-tie gala that raises funds for our Zoo and Society initiatives. Our fundraising events through the Society are projected to bring in more than $1 million each year to further our mission!

ZSWV Structure
The Zoological Society of West Virginia is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a dedicated all-volunteer team who manage daily operations and programs. Helping grow West Virginia's Zoological presence through education and conservation to be in the same conversation as the "big Zoos" is one of our major goals! Assisting West Virginia's Zoological facilities achieve and maintain their reputation as West Virginia's premier educational and cultural treasure is a big part of the Zoological Society’s mission. Together, the Zoos and the ZSWV are projected to serve over 1 million guests each year.
